Aboriginal art class is a success at Heaton Moor care home

Arts and crafts took an interesting twist at Newlands care home in Heaton Moor, Stockport as Residents learned about aboriginal art. 

Residents enjoyed learning the indigenous Australian art technique, which involves colouring paintings in with dots rather than brush strokes. 

The therapeutic session saw Residents create colourful array of paintings, including flowers and butterflies, using earbuds to create their desired effect.

While they created their masterpieces, Residents enjoyed a selection of refreshments and shared memories of doing arts and crafts when they were younger. 

Yvonne, a Resident at Newlands, said: “I would never have thought painting with earbuds would be so fun. Wait until I show my granddaughter my giraffe!”
