Alloa care home teams up with Cycling Without Age

HC-One’s The Orchard care home in Tullibody has teamed up with Cycling Without Age to raise the funds for a trishaw to be based at the home for Residents and elderly members of the local community to utilise. 

Cycling Without Age is a movement started in 2012 by Ole Kassow and Dorthe Pederson which main aim is to transform the lives of elderly people with limited mobility by allowing them to get out and about with the help of a specially designed bike called a trishaw.

The Orchard was treated a taster session where Cycling Without Age brought a trishaw for Residents and team members to try out, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The home is now focussed on raising the £7000 require to have a trishaw based at The Orchard for Residents and members of the local community to use.

Harry, a Resident at The Orchard said: “It was lovely to feel the wind about my face, it’s been a long time since I’ve been on a bike.”

Fiona Johnstone, Home Manager at The Orchard commented: “It was lovely see the smiles on Residents faces as they returned from their trishaw ride, hopefully we will be able to have our own trishaw very soon.”
