Centenarian celebrates 102nd birthday at Gateshead care homeAnnie Ferry, a Resident at HC-One’s Springfield House care home in Low Fell, Gateshead, celebrated her 102nd birthday on Wednesday 20th November surrounded by friends, family, fellow Residents and members of the care team.

Born in Gateshead in 1917, Annie worked in the planning office at Northumberland County Council and married her sweetheart George Douglas Ferry. She went on to have a son, Jeffery and a daughter, Jacqueline and has since been blessed with a grandson and a great granddaughter.

In her younger days, Annie loved to dance and go rambling, when asked what her secret to living a long life is, she said it all about good food.

To celebrate her milestone birthday, the team at Springfield House arranged a party for Annie and her loved ones in the home’s orangery followed by further celebrations where Annie was showered with cards, gifts and good wishes.

Kay Rudd, Home Manager at Springfield House commented: “What a wonderful day! It was a pleasure to be able to celebrate Annie’s milestone and on behalf of everyone at Springfield House I would like to wish her a very happy birthday.”
