Colleagues celebrate Healthy Living Award at Portree care homeHome Farm care home in Portree, Highland was delighted to receive a Healthy Living Award in recognition of the home’s commitment to the diet and nutrition of those living at the home.

Supported by the NHS Health Scotland and the Scottish Government, Healthy Living Awards are national awards that recognise organisations for promoting healthy eating.

To achieve the award, organisations must achieve a number of different criteria, including making fruit and vegetables available, keeping levels of fat, salt and sugar to a minimum and making starchy foods the main part of most meals.

The kitchen team at Home Farm was overjoyed to receive their award, as one Resident commented: “I like the way that staff care about me and the choices that I make.” Another added: “I like the choice of fresh fruit and low fat options that are available each day.”
