To celebrate their diamond wedding anniversary, the couple were presented with a card from The Queen and a special cake, Mary’s room at Needham Court was also beautifully decorated with banners and balloons for their special occasion.

George visits Mary daily at Needham Court on Stanhope Road, which offers short and long term care packages for older members of the community needing residential and residential dementia care.

Mr and Mrs Overton, who are now grandparents and great-grandparents, said that their secret to a long and happy marriage is to not argue, what is George’s is Mary’s and what is Mary’s is George’s.

Joann Mills, Needham Court Home Manager said: “I am so pleased that we were able to help Mary and George celebrate their special day, it is heart-warming to see a couple celebrate their love for each other.”
