Creative Chinese New Year celebrations at Sheffield care homeSwallownest care home in Sheffield welcomed the Chinese New Year with an arts and crafts class dedicated to celebrating Chinese culture and traditions.

Chinese New Year, also known as the ‘Spring Festival’ is an important Chinese festival celebrated at the turn of the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar. According to Chinese zodiac, 2020 is the ‘Year of the Rat’, with the festival lasting from January 25th to February 8th.

To celebrate, Residents enjoyed a Chinese themed arts and crafts session where they created traditional Chinese lanterns and spoke about the country’s culture and cuisine.

One Resident commented: “I am so pleased with my lantern, what a lovely way to celebrate Chinese New Year.”
