Fang-tastic Halloween at Falkirk care home

Residents at HC-One’s Kinnaird Manor care home in Falkirk celebrated Halloween on Thursday 31st October with a day filled with spook-tacular activities.

Halloween is an annual celebration that originated as an ancient Celtic festival where people would wear costumes to scare off ghosts. Since then, it has evolved into a day of fun festivities, including trick-or-treating and pumpkin carving.

Residents were joined by friends, family and team members for a fun-filled day, they kicked things off with a spooky quiz and bingo followed by delicious Halloween-themed lunch. Later in the day, everyone enjoyed live entertainment and were joined by children from the local community for a trick and treat evening.

One Resident, Charlie reminisced with the children about Halloween when he was younger, telling them how ‘trick or treating’ was referred to as ‘guising’ and jack-o-lanterns were made from turnips rather than pumpkins. 

Glynis Crossley, Home Manager at Kinnaird Manor said: “All of our Residents were very excited for the day. Halloween is a popular celebration and many of our Residents excitedly told stories of what they used to do at Halloween when they were younger.”
