Glasgow care home staff take part in spooktacular fundraiser

Five brave team members from HC-One’s Arcadia Gardens care home in Glasgow took part in a sponsored ghost hunt at the Pearce Institute at Govan Cross to raise money for the Resident’s Comfort Fund.

Completed in 1906, The Pearce Institute was commissioned by Lady Dinah Pearce as a memorial for her late husband and is used by local businesses to host conferences and meetings and the community for social functions and leisure activities. 

The Institute is also notorious for accounts of paranormal activity and hosts regular ghost hunts, which five team members at Arcadia Garden bravely volunteered to take part in to help raise money for the Resident’s Comfort Fund.

Home Manager, Mark McLeary-Lees, Wellbeing Coordinator, Mel Kennedy, Home Administrator, Lisa Mulrooney, Care Assistant, John McCallion and Kitchen Assistant, Linda Corbett spent an evening hunting for spirits at the Institute. The team’s spooky experience raised £500 which has all been donated to the Resident’s Comfort Fund.

Arcadia Gardens Home Manager, Mark McLeary-Lees said: “There were a few scary moments for us, but it was worth it to raise money for such a good cause. The money will help us to create more happy memories for our Residents with more activities and day trips.”
