Massage therapy at Falkirk care homeMorag Whyte, Wellbeing Coordinator at HC-One’s Barleystone care home in Falkirk is utilising the home’s hair salon space by offering relaxing hand and arm massages for Residents.

After realising that the home’s hair salon was only used once a week, Morag started to think of ways she could utilise the space to enhance the daily life of Residents. Morag spoke with qualified massage therapist, Alix, who kindly agreed to show her how to provide hand and arm massages.

After her training, Morag organised for some sensory lights to be fitted in the salon along with an oil diffuser and music system to help create a relaxing ambience in the room. Morag hosted her first massage therapy session where Residents were treated a relaxing session which includes massages, manicures and face masks.

Everyone enjoyed their first pamper session and are looking forward to the weekly sessions Morag will be hosting in the salon. One Resident commented: “What a lovely experience, I look forward to going back for another massage next week.

Karen Syme, Home Manager at Barleystone said: “It’s great that Morag has utilised the hair salon to offer massage therapy for our Residents, it will help improve the quality of life for Residents and offer a space where they can relax and unwind.”
