Newlands care home marks Remembrance Day with local communityNewlands care home in Heaton Moor, Stockport, was delighted to welcome students from St Thomas’ School as Residents marked Remembrance Day 2019.

The visit, which was organised as part of the school’s Archbishop of York’s Young Leader Award, saw 22 Year 5 pupils recognise Remembrance Day with those living at Newlands.

Students created themes around Remembrance Day with Residents, as they painted pictures, read poetry and sang war-time songs.

The students loved their visit to the home, as many said that they could not wait to visit again and even sent Newlands a homemade card to say thank you for the day.

One Resident commented: “The children were wonderful. They made my day with their smiles and laughter.”
