Rochdale care home raises £926 for homeless community at Manchester Sleepout

HC-One’s Oakland care home in Rochdale was delighted to raise a fantastic £926 for the local homeless community after taking part in Manchester Sleepout 2019.

This year’s Sleepout involved staying outside in Manchester Cathedral overnight, with temperatures dropping to -1°C, to raise money for the Booth Centre. Based on Pimblett Street, the Booth Centre aims to help people experiencing or at risk of homelessness to plan for and achieve a better future.

Amcia Servak, Home Manager at Oakland, was joined by Colleagues Wendy Orman and Lisa Bottrell for the fundraising challenge, where they were sponsored by family and friends at HC-One.

The trio embraced the fundraising challenge, raising a total of £926 for the Booth Centre to help enhance the lives of those affected by homelessness. 

Amcia said: “We were delighted with the amount of money we raised in support of the local homeless community in Manchester and are grateful to everyone who sponsored us. 

“I decided to take part in the Sleepout as I feel passionately about combatting homelessness, both in the local area and across the UK. The Booth Centre is a fantastic organisation that makes such a positive difference to people’s lives and we look forward to working with them more in the future.”
