Shetland ponies delight on National Love Your Pet Day at Glasgow care home

HC-One’s Quayside care home in Yoker, Glasgow celebrated National Love Your Pet Day on Thursday 20th February with some lovely hooved visitors.

National Love Your Pet Day is an annual celebration which encourages pet owners to spend some time with their pets and show them the love and affection they deserve. The team at Quayside arranged for Residents to spend time with some four-legged friends for the day.

Therapy ponies, Flicker and Wilson toured the home spending time with every Resident, the Shetland ponies brought back happy memories for lots of people, especially those who have grown up and worked on a farm. Rachel, aged 102 reminisced about working with horses after being enlisted by the Forestry Commission during the war.

One Resident commented: “Meeting the Flicker and Wilson has made my day, my family will never believe me when I tell them that I had a pony visit me in my bedroom!”

Liz Campbell, Home Manager at Quayside said: “It was wonderful to see everyone’s faces light up when they were spending time with the therapy ponies, we hope that Flicker and Wilson visit us again soon.”
