Whittlesey care home Resident volunteers at local Salvation Army
Doris, a Resident at HC-One’s The Elms care home was delighted when she made the decision to visit the local Salvation Army charity shop alongside a Colleague, with the hope of volunteering there.

As Doris used to work in a sweet shop, she thoroughly enjoys meeting new people and socialising with everyone around her, and upon speaking with the manager, the team at the charity shop were pleased to welcome Doris to their team.

It was then decided that Doris would volunteer for one hour each week on a day of her choosing.

Doris was delighted at the idea of helping others in her local community, as she returned to the home to tell fellow Residents of her exciting plans to volunteer at the Salvation Army.

Katie Coulson, home manager, commented: “It’s so warming to be able to support our Residents in maintaining a connection with the local community, we’re so pleased to be supporting Doris with this.”
